Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most well-known roles are Shannon Rutherford, a character on ABC's Lost series as well as Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace, originally from Worthington located in Ohio dropped out high school in order to move into Los Angeles after her divorced parents. They were struggling to get by and was offered her first acting role in the film Rachel's Room's lead character. She went on to earn an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford, the character in Lost from 2004 until 2005 was selected for an Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace was keen to pursue film after starring opposite Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. She appeared as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken the year 2008) in Suburban Girl and the Jane Austen Book Club. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) are her re-casts of these characters. Grace performed the role of Shannon on the final episode and two other episodes. In 2013, she appeared in Season 6 of Californication. She is Faith, a groupie who acts as a muse to celebrities and attracts the attention from Hank Moody (David Duchovny). She's the daughter of Stephen Gyllenhaal (director) and Naomi Achs (producer), and is younger in age than Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began as a teenager with small appearances in his films. She also appeared with her brother in the famous cult classic Donnie Darko (2001). She then appeared on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated for the Golden Globe Award in both the drama Sherrybaby (2005) and the romance comedy Secretary (2002). The two movies were critically acclaimed. She gained wider recognition when she portrayed Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008), thanks to several successful commercial films that she was a part of the year 2006. In 2009, she was recognized as the best supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her role of a single mom in Crazy Heart. The following year, she starred in comedy and dramas Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (2012). The other roles she played were an agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013), a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) a musician in the film Frank (2014) and her role as the lead in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was the writer and director of her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The psychological drama won Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The Lost Daughter was also nominated for the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
